If you are not sure of a major, our General
Studies program offers you the opportunity to take college courses
while exploring your options. You will have the chance to take
courses from these areas:
- General Education Core Curriculum
- General Education Electives, including
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Math/Science
You can also choose program specific courses on a space-available
basis in a major that interests you. Academic advisors can discuss your options with you. |
Central Maine Community College operates on a rolling admissions policy
for all programs except for
Nursing.
All applications will be evaluated for admission
as soon as possible after the application file is complete.
Applications are accepted
for classes beginning in the fall or spring semester. Some academic
programs only begin in the fall semester.
- Submit your completed application and non-refundable
$20.00 application fee.
- For high school seniors: submit an official high
school transcript for all years attended including the first marking
period of the senior year.
- For all others: submit your final official high school
transcript and/or GED tests scores
- Submit documentation of all program prerequisites,
which may appear on your transcripts. Please carefully read the
prerequisites for the preferred program of study. Prospective applicants
who do not meet these requirements are strongly encouraged to contact
the Admissions Office to discuss alternatives.
- Official Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) scores. Applicants
are strongly encouraged to take SATs, especially if their educational
goals may include transferring to a four-year institution after
Central Maine Community College.
OR
- Central Maine Community College Placement Assessment
in reading, writing, math and algebra. The College uses the Accuplacer
for this assessment. To check out sample questions, click

practice modules.) Please call the Admissions Office to schedule
an assessment session. Contact the Central Maine Community College
Disabilities Coordinator at (207) 755-5277 or (800) 891-2002 ext. 277 if accommodations are needed.
OR
- Prior success (grade C or better) in a college level
English and math course at a 100 level or above, taken at Central
Maine Community College or another accredited institution.
- SAT results, Placement Assessment, and college level
course work are used for academic counseling and course placement.
Results are analyzed and applicants may be advised to enroll in
preparatory courses or receive assistance at an adult education
center in the region.
- If applicable, all college transcripts from previously
attended colleges.
- Letters of recommendation from guidance personnel,
teachers, and employers are encouraged (but not mandatory), to confirm
an applicant's high degree of motivation and commitment to a Central
Maine Community College education.
