FERPA Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The College complies totally with the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (also known as FERPA or the Buckley Amendment). No one outside the institution shall have access to, nor will the institution disclose any information from students' education records without the written consent of students except to personnel within the institution, to officials of other institutions in which students seek to enroll, to persons or organizations providing student financial aid, to accrediting agencies carrying out their accreditation function, to persons in an emergency in order to protect the health or safety of students or other persons. All the exceptions are permitted under the Act. At its discretion, the institution may provide directory information in accordance with the provisions of the Act. Such information may include: name, address, date of birth, telephone number, dates of attendance, class, previous institution attended, field of study, awards, honors, degrees, as well as participation in officially recognized sports and activities. Currently enrolled students may withhold disclosure of any category of directory information under the Act. To withhold disclosure, written notification must be received in the Registrar's Office.
